Sie müssen langsam wieder lernen, Sättigung zu empfinden, wahrzunehmen und zu trainieren. Wichtig ist, die Wirkung der Abnehmhilfen abzuwarten. Zellulosehaltige Medizinprodukte zeigen ebenso eine sättigende Wirkung. Die Zellulose bildet im Magen einen Langzeit-Gelkörper aus, der einen großen Teil des Magens ausfüllt und dort zwei Stunden Sättigungswirkung ausübt. Durch die Volumensättigung stellt sich eine schnelle und lang anhaltende Sättigung ein, so dass automatisch weniger gegessen wird. Günstiger Weise sollten entsprechende Produkte etwa 20 bis30 Minuten vor den Mahlzeiten eingenommen werden sollen, damit die Abnehmhilfe wirken kann.
