Ist der Mensch eher Fleisch- oder Pflanzenfresser ?
Noch einmal zurückkommend auf die Frage, ob der Mensch von Natur aus, von der Evolution her, mehr Pflanzen- oder Fleischfresser ist, sei darauf hingewiesen, daß gerade das Magenferment Ptyalin zur Stärkeverdauung beim Menschen in besonders hohem Umfang vorhanden ist (für die Verdauung der pflanzlichen Stärke wohlgemerkt) und daß die Belegzellen zur HCL-Produktion, notwendig zur Verdauung von Muskelfleisch, in geringerem Umfang beim Menschen vorhanden sind. Aber dies nur nebenbei.
Sicher war der Mensch in früheren Zeiten kein reiner »Pflanzenfresser«, genauso wie er kein reiner »Fleischfresser« war. Über lange Zeiten hinweg mußte sich der Mensch aber aus Mangel an tierischer Nahrung vorwiegend von pflanzlicher Kost ernähren, fleischige Kost war jeweils eine wohl erwünschte, aber nicht häufig vorhandene Zusatzkost.
Ein letzter Aspekt zu diesem Kapitel: Leider sind die Fleischprodukte, die heutzutage vorwiegend angeboten werden, angereichert durch viele Medikamente wie z. B. Cortison, Antibiotika, Psychopharmaka, eventuell auch Östrogene. Oft wird dies von regierungsamtlicher Seite negiert, aber in gewissen Grenzen ist die Anwendung ja erlaubt, und es ist kaum zu glauben, daß die Landwirte die erlaubten Grenzen nicht ausnutzen, zumal wenn dies zu ihrem Vorteil erfolgt. Es ist eben nicht gleichgültig, ob ein Schwein in 3 Monaten mehr oder weniger großgezogen werden kann, dies ist auch ein Kostenfaktor, der bei unserer Betrachtung berücksichtigt werden muß.
Zusätzlich sind in der Tiernahrung Herbizide, Fungizide, Düngemittel und andere chemische Abfallprodukte aus unserer Umwelt vorhanden, die sich im Vergleich zur Pflanzennahrung in der Tierkette jeweils vervielfachen, ein Aspekt, der vielleicht weniger unter dem Kapitel Leistungsfähigkeit betrachtet werden sollte, sondern mehr mit Erhaltung der Gesundheit über lange Zeiträume zu tun hat.
